Poole’s Cavern is a two million-year-old limestone cavern. It is considered one of the finest show caves in England and has many spectacular formations. It has been explored since the 1600s and Mary, Queen of Scots is said to have visited, as have many others since that time. Guided tours are available, and there is a visitor centre and café.
It is located with Buxton Country Park and Solomons Temple, the latter is a folly which provides a panoramic view of Buxton and the surrounding hills.
