Our family of 5 had a great weekend at Litton Mill, the quality of the accommodation and setting is excellent and access to the walks and surrounding towns good.
Two suggestions for improvement would be improved heating (we visited in winter) and signage to get to garage (we followed the road to the end, as no other alternative) thankful for gps in our hire car
There is little that can be done about the heating....
The property is situated in a valley that in Winter means the no/very little sun gets on the building as it doesn't rise above the cliffs.
The apartment also has huge windows, high ceilings and large open spaces.
These factors all mean that in the winter months the apt is quite difficult to heat up and then keep the heat in.
It's an unfortunate downside of the beautiful building and it's nature/location...I guess the residents who actually live down there just get accustomed to it!
We do provide some electric fan heaters for you to use to boost the temperature.
Also, for other readers this guest lives in Australia - the UK in Winter must be quite a difference.
With regard to garage signage - we cannot do that, it is a residential apartment complex and we have no say in what is there and can;t put anything there ourselves - remember most people live there or it is their holiday home - The garage is in the basement so it seems sensible you would need to drive towards the back of the building - not past the building down the road - I thought the instructions on the notes I provide would be sufficient but I can look to amend those.
We had a fantastic stay at Litton Mill. The apartment is beautifully furnished, spacious and was warm and cosy as well as being spotlessly clean. We loved the views of the river from the windows. Communication from the owners was excellent.
Had excellent meals at The Anglers Rest at the end of the road and at The Packhorse Inn and The Red Lion too.
Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.
Just had a lovely short stay at apartment 6 of the beautiful Litton Mill. Excellent communication from the owners of this stylish apartment which is equipped to a high standard. We enjoyed lots of great walks along the Monsal Trail and beautiful views. The nearby pub, The Anglers Rest is both cosy and friendly and serves excellent food
Five of us have just returned from a week at the wonderful Litton Mill - our third stay at the property. Very well equipped, warm and welcoming in an amazing old mill. Once there you can forget the car as it is in a great location for walking. We survived the floods and the adjacent stream was quite spectacular. Owners very helpful and all communications were just right. Excellent pub nearby and fabulous bakery in Tideswell. Third bedroom is a little tight but we had no problem sleeping there. Wi-Fi fine but no phone signal at the Mill. We would strongly recommend a stay, you will not be disappointed.
This is a very spacious and good quality apartment on the ground floor. The building retains it's old character and structure with a modern interior. All 3 bedrooms have ensuite facilities. The kitchen is modern, well equipped and is open plan to a lovely comfortable lounge. Parking is easy. The views are amazing.
Because you are in the middle of the countryside there are multiple, very scenic, walks right on the doorstep as well as close access to the Monsal Trail and a river that runs right next to the mill where you often see a lot of wildlife e.g. Herons.
The pub at the end of the road (Anglers rest) is 30 mins walk or a short drive to their car park. The food there is amazing, cheap and plentiful.
Our hosts gave good joining instructions, were very helpful and were keen we had a good stay.
There a number of trips to interesting villages, sights and places to eat all in a 30 minute radius.
We had a 7 and 10 year old and they loved the walks, the cycling, the apartment and all attractions locally. It was a great option and a memorable stay.
Would stay here again and would recommend it to friends without hesitation.
A beautiful apartment with high ceilings and lots of space for a family of 5.Well equipped kitchen and the owner was very responsive. Also in a lovely part of the world.
There was some mould in the bathroom but the owner asked the cleaners to do a deep clean which sorted it out and I suspect this will not be an issue going forwards.
Also, there is no mobile signal in the property and the internet is slow and can cut out (pretty much emails and websites only) to be expected with the location as they are far from the exchange...perfect if you want to get off grid....but not good if you need to do some work via the internet.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Have just spent a lovely week at Litton Mill. Apartment is amazing and easily the best we have ever stayed in. It is spacious, clean, modern, well equipped and has wonderful views. It is in a good location for exploring the Peak District either by foot or in the car. We can recommend the Angler’s Rest and the Red Lion at Litton for delicious meals. Good communication from the lovely owners.
Have just spent a week here and really enjoyed ourselves. The apartment is very spacious and is probably the best equipped apartment in terms of crockery etc which we have stayed at. Loved sitting on the settee and watching the heron in the stream! Easy access to Monsal Trail and lots of places to visit - nice walk to the Anglers Rest for good food. Would definitely like to visit again. Excellent communication with the owner after we had booked - all in all I would recommend.
Our friends and us had a great week at 6 Litton Mill. Parking is easy as is access to the accommodation. All rooms suitably appointed, the lounge/kitchen area is very generous in size. Excellent location to walk and tour the White Peak, the Monsal Trail being less than 200 metres away across the River Wye. Anglers Rest a good eating place as is Monsal Head, a short walk away either, walking the trail or via the River Wye via Cressbrook, where you'll find another fine mill.
We had a fantastic week at 6 Litton Mill. Tricia was helpful and friendly all through the booking process. We arrived to a beautiful property in a stunning setting with everything we needed. The flat was spotlessly clean and was so spacious. Very well positioned for exploring the Peak District and the Monsal Trail. Highly recommended.
