Mam Tor

Mam Tor is a 1696 ft hill near Castleton in High Peak. It is one of the most spectacular places in the Peak District, with great views and walks. The hill has a late Bronze Age and early Iron Age univallate hill fort, and two Bronze Age bowl barrows. At the base of the Tor are four show caves: Blue John Cavern, Speedwell Cavern, Peak Cavern, and Treak Cliff Cavern.

It is a 25-minute drive from Six Litton Mill to the car park at Mam Tor as follows: drive to the Anglers Rest Hotel and turn left into B6049, then turn right at Millers Dale in 0.3m, take this road for 2.0m to Summer Cross and turn left, then turn right at Hargatewall in 0.5m, take this road for 2.6m to the A623 and then turn left, after 1.7m on A623 turn right at Sparrowpit (near The Olive Tree), take this road for 2.7m then turn left on Sparrowpot Buxton A623 A6, turn left again on 0.2m (continuing on the same road) and this will take you past the Mam Tor Trust Car Park (on your right-hand side) in about 0.3m.

The walks from here are relatively easy and generally paved. Here is one you could try:
