Fly Fishing

Cressbrook & Litton Flyfishers’ Club is the custodian of eleven miles of premium river fly fishing on the Derbyshire Wye.  The Club maintains and protects the river.

Extending from Blackwell, just below Buxton, to Ashford in the Water, the river is a haven for wild brown and rainbow trout and its lower beats have a thriving population of grayling.

The river directly outside Litton Mill is protected and regularly patrolled, and you are not permitted to fish in it.

However visiting anglers can obtain a Day Ticket to fish in a visitors area in Monsal Dale. This area is approximately three quarters of a mile of double bank fishing from Upperdale Bridge to Cressbrook Mill.   It is just a short walk down river from Litton Mill – either via the riverside path or via the Monsal Trail.  (See map below)
